MTN subscribers in Cameroon can now enjoy live television channels and on-demand video content on their mobile devices and tablets following a new partnership between MTN Cameroon and Canal+, a leading French direct broadcast satellite service provider.
This collaboration will bring Canal+ content, including films, series, documentaries, and live TV channels, to the recently launched MTN TV Cameroon platform, which is available for download on the Google Play Store.
Riadh Mezi, MTN Cameroon’s Chief Marketing Officer, stated that this deal enables the telecom company to offer high-definition video entertainment content to its six million smartphone users out of a total subscriber base of nearly 13 million.
“It was essential to provide our customers with content that seemed out of reach. Our goal is to democratize Canal+ packages (Access, Évasion, Access+, Évasion+) and make them accessible to even our smallest subscribers,” Mezi explained, noting that subscribers will not incur additional data charges for unlimited streaming.
Justine Zeinse, Marketing Lead at Canal+ Cameroun, mentioned during a press conference in Douala that users will not require a decoder, just a mobile device and the app’s user-friendly interface.
“Everyone will be able to choose the bundle that suits them best and enjoy their programs daily or weekly,” Zeinse said.
