PUMA, a global sports company, has announced that it has extended its exclusive kit partner agreement with Netball SA for the long term. The agreement, which was initially signed in 2019, ensures that PUMA supplies kit for all teams under Netball SA, including senior and junior national teams, umpires, teams in the National Premier League, and the Netball SA executive. Additionally, PUMA produces official replica and fanwear.
This announcement comes as the 100-day countdown to the Vitality Netball World Cup, which will be held in Cape Town this July, begins. Last month, PUMA and Netball South Africa unveiled the United Warriors kit for the SPAR Proteas team, which they will wear during the 2023 season, including their participation in the World Cup.
Netball South Africa President Cecilia Molokwane expressed her delight about the long-term extension, saying, “In March, PUMA provided the passionate warriors in our national team with a striking kit, and today we are delighted to announce the long-term extension of our partnership.”
Brett Bellinger, PUMA SA Marketing Director, said that netball is a popular sport among girls and women in South Africa, but it has not received as much recognition and support as other sports, particularly men’s sports. However, the brand is committed to empowering and celebrating women in sport, and this long-term extension reinforces their commitment to supporting Netball SA and other team sponsors in bringing about positive change, so that the sport and the athletes receive the opportunities, recognition, and financial rewards that they deserve.
Bellinger also highlighted that hosting the World Cup would be an excellent platform for the team to showcase their talents to the world. He hopes that the World Cup will inspire future generations of players and help grow the game at all levels, providing more opportunities for South African women and girls.
PUMA’s replica Home and Away kit is now available at PUMA.com, PUMA Retail, Totalsports, and Sportmans Warehouse for a retail price of R499. The brand has also released a range of fanwear available in men’s, women’s, and kids’ sizes.
