Cricket Boland and Goldrush have teamed up to launch a new community club-based T20 competition known as the Goldrush Boland Super League (BSL).

Scheduled to kick off on Saturday, March 10, 2024, the Goldrush BSL will feature 16 teams from the Boland area, divided into four pools. These teams comprise 10 Premier League clubs, four promotion league clubs (to be determined by the end of the current 2023/24 season), and two wildcard entries. The top two teams from each pool will progress to the quarterfinals, leading up to the day/night final at Boland Park on Saturday, March 23, 2024.

Pool A will witness the competition between Krewe from Vredenburg/Saldanha, Darling, Piketberg, and Wellington. Pool B features Paarl, Bergrivier Young Peoples, and Paarl East vying for a quarterfinal berth, while Maties, Van der Stel, Stellenbosch, and Vics will battle it out in Pool C. Pool D will see Robertson, Caledon, Worcester United, and Hermanus in contention.

The inaugural round of the Goldrush BSL will be livestreamed on YouTube, with further details available on Boland Rocks and Goldrush Online social channels.

Adding to the excitement, the tournament will introduce the use of the pink ball, famously employed in day/night test matches, to infuse some vibrancy into the early autumn festivities.

James Fortuin, CEO of Cricket Boland, expresses enthusiasm about the potential of this new competition, emphasizing its significance in bolstering club cricket in the Boland region. He extends gratitude to Goldrush for their invaluable partnership in realizing the tournament’s objectives, foreseeing the Goldrush Boland Super League becoming an aspirational event for players, fans, and viewers tuning in via live streaming.

Dwain Powell, MD of Goldrush Online, echoes this sentiment, affirming Goldrush’s pride in backing the Goldrush Boland Super League and their commitment to nurturing Boland cricket and the wider community. Powell emphasizes the focus on spotlighting emerging talent, celebrating excellence, and ensuring an enjoyable experience for all involved, encouraging cricket enthusiasts and the community to attend matches for a chance to win exciting prizes and giveaways.
