Oak View Group and it’s partners have broken ground on a new $100M arena in Lagos, Nigeria. Collaborating with Live Nation, the Persianas Group (a Nigerian real estate investment firm), and the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority, OVG is leading the initiative.
In addition to these key partners, the Yinka Folawiyo Group, Nigerian investment fund Adino Capital, and MBO Capital are integral to the realization of this 12,000-seat arena, slated for completion by December 2025. This landmark venue will represent Nigeria’s inaugural indoor sports and entertainment arena of such scale.
Much like OVG’s renowned CFG Bank Arena project, the Lagos arena, currently without a designated name sponsor, will leverage the vibrant Afrobeat music scene, showcasing the talents of Nigerian icons like Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido.
Designed to accommodate a diverse range of events, the arena is expected to be capable of hosting 200 events annually including UFC, WWE, boxing and basketball events, basketball, futsal, tennis, volleyball, handball and boxing matches. It can also host music concerts, festivals, award ceremonies, weddings and more.
OVG’s arena portfolio includes Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, UBS Arena in New York, and Moody Center in Austin. In April, the company will open the 23,500-capacity Co-op Live in Manchester, which will become the largest arena in the UK.
