New World TV has announced the acquisition of some major UEFA competition right for football fans in French-speaking sub-Saharan Africa. New World have secured exclusive rights to broadcast the UEFA Champions League, Europa League, Europa Conference League, and Youth League competitions, all in French and local languages. This move follows their earlier success in nabbing rights for FIFA international competitions, including the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the 2023 Women’s Football World Cup. Plus, they’re set to air 28 matches for free across 43 African countries during the Qatar World Cup. It’s all part of their plan to bring football to as many fans as possible, making sure everyone gets a piece of the action.

This expansion of New World TV’s portfolio follows its earlier success in July 2021, when it clinched the broadcasting rights for FIFA international competitions. This included coverage for the highly anticipated 2022 FIFA World Cup and the 2023 Women’s Football World Cup, extending its reach to French-speaking countries within sub-Saharan Africa. Furthermore, the company also secured rights to broadcast 28 matches for free across 43 African countries during the Qatar World Cup, a move that garnered widespread acclaim among football fans.

In December 2021, New World TV emerged victorious in a UEFA tender. The company secured exclusive rights for 23 French-speaking sub-Saharan African countries for both the 2024 and 2028 European Championships, as well as the Nations Leagues spanning from 2022 to 2027. Additionally, it obtained rights for broadcasting Europe zone qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, further cementing its commitment to bringing top-tier football action to its viewers.

The momentum didn’t stop there for New World TV. In a historic agreement inked in December 2023, the company finalized a Media Rights Agreement with Pan-African broadcaster New World TV, securing Free-to-Air and Pay-TV English and Local Languages Media Rights for CAF (Confederation of African Football) Competitions and Events from 2023 to 2025. This groundbreaking deal represents a significant step forward in delivering high-quality football content to audiences across sub-Saharan Africa, enhancing access and viewership opportunities for football fans throughout the region
